Three Little Spies - tagalogue

Written by Tom Chehak (excerpts from the episode belong to him)

Lee turned towards Amanda and gazed at her for a moment. Amanda obviously felt his stare and turned to face him.

"What?"

He wasn't really sure he wanted ot reveal his thoughts at the moment, so he tried to shrug it off. "Nothing."

"No, really what?"

"Nothing," he insisted, doing his best to give her a convincing smile.

Amanda continued to press him. "What?"

He paused then glanced down a little. "You've got a really cute nose."

She laughed. "What?"

"You do," he repeated. "You have a really cute nose." Lee tapped her on the nose, then reached down to take her hands in his, forcing her to face him. He lowered his voice so only she could hear him. "And you know what?"

"Hm?"

"I think they have the right idea." Nodding his head over his right shoulder at the other two couples, Lee tipped his chin in the direction of the other large room of the plane. "Come on."

Since the others were otherwise occupied, Lee easily led Amanda into the other cabin. Once they were away from any roaming eyes, he gave a little tug that brought Amanda into his arms. Placing a kiss on her nose, he gazed down into her eyes and smiled.

"You know, you really did a bang-up job on this case."

"You weren't so bad yourself!"

"When the presidential order came down limiting me to only one agent, then Francine and Billy mentioned you, I had my doubts." He saw her about to protest, so he hurried to continue. "But, you proved me wrong and came out with flying colors."

She shrugged. "Just doing my job!"

"One you do very well. I mean it. You helped us all keep cool heads and did a fantastic job at keeping the peace."

"Well, I don't like to see dissension in the ranks," she teased. Amanda slipped her hands around his waist and began lightly rubbing his back. "Besides, time was running out, and I knew everyone had to work together if we were going to solve this case. At each other's throats, we were only shooting ourselves in the foot. Each hour that past, we got that much closer to Pam and those detonators getting out of the country."

Lee grinned. "How very logical of you."

"I just can't believe she would use a worthy charity operation like Food for Flight for her less than honorable dealings." Her voice held a trace of sadness. "I really am glad we caught her."

"Yeah, me, too!" Lee gave Amanda's waist a little squeeze. "How did you and Nadine find her, anyway?"

"Well, once everyone left, I decided that we should head to the airport. We weren't too far behind the rest of the caravan. When we drove past the warehouses, Nadine pointed out Pam in her car. So, I stopped and backed up to block her from leaving. When she pulled a gun, Nadine managed to knock her off balance and make sure she wouldn't get away. That was when I called you and told you about truck 52."

"And I thought you used your car door trick to knock her out or something!"

"Not this time," she returned with a smile.

"At least now, Randall Skyler can continue his operation and not have to worry about getting blamed for anything. He really was innocent of everything involving those detonators."

Amanda nodded and gave him a pointed look. "Yes, and you and Mr. Petrovich and Mr. Chang learned that you can actually all work together when you put your minds to it. That should certainly help relations between our countries."

Lee shook his head and glanced toward the doorway to the other cabin. "I still can't believe that Jin Sun wound up being Chang's superior."

"And I actually liked the fact that she thought I was your superior," Amanda countered.

Lee snapped his head back to look at her. When he saw the twinkle in her eye, he decided to play along. "Well, based upon what happened the last time you were my superior, I don't think I'd mind as much, either," he retorted, lowering his voice to a suggestive whisper.

She ducked her head and the telltale pink stained her cheeks. Removing one hand from around her waist, Lee placed it on her chin and lifted her eyes to meet his.

"In fact, I think we could agree that the arrangement would work rather nicely for both of us. But only in small doses," he quickly amended. "Can't have you getting a power trip, now can we?"

"You mean like the one you used to be on before you realized that you couldn't do everything by yourself?"

"What? Me?" His hand returned to her waist. "On a power trip?

"Yes, you!" Amanda gave his chest a light smack. "And don't you dare pretend that you don't get on them more often than not! You, with your self-assured attitude and loner mentality, keeping all of your feelings bottled up inside and refusing to admit that you need help!"

Lee grinned. "I always knew I could count on you to knock my ego down a few pegs and put me in my place."

"Well, somebody has to." She grinned. "Otherwise, they'd have to widen the doors at the Agency to make room for your swelled head."

"As I recall, a certain housewife was enjoying the assumed promotion of being my superior only a moment ago. So, looks like I'm not the only one with a big ego!"

"Guess we make quite a matched pair, huh?"

He paused and gazed into her eyes. His expression became very serious. "Yes, we do," he said softly. "Quite a pair."

He felt her hands once again leave his waist, then slowly slide up his chest to rest just below his shoulders. "And you know what else?"

"What's that?"

She raised up on her toes and placed her lips next to his ear. "I wouldn't change a thing!"

Lee swallowed several times and took a deep breath to control his reaction to her warm breath against his ear. He shifted so that he was once again looking into her eyes. It would be very easy to get lost in those brown depths. At the change in her expression, he realized he hadn't said anything in response to her remark, so he cleared his throat to cover his discomfort at being caught daydreaming, then gave her a crooked grin.

"You know something else?"

"What?"

"Neither would I!" He gave her a light but lingering kiss.

As soon as he pulled away, she smiled. "Good, now why don't we go fix ourselves something to eat? I'm starved!"

Me, too, but not for food, he thought to himself. Instead, he replied, "Sounds like a great idea." Lee nodded over his shoulder toward the doorway. "Maybe we can offer some to our partners in crime out there."

She pulled away and walked around him. "Stetson, be nice!" she called over her shoulder.

He grabbed her from behind and tickled her. She squirmed from his grasp and gasped in surprise, but he also caught her smile.

"Scout's honor!" he vowed, when she turned around to face him.

"And if you think I'm going to believe that, you've got another thing coming, bucko!" she retorted, then pivoted on her heels and briskly walked to the kitchen.

Shaking his head at her playful nature, he followed behind, realizing just how much he loved having her around and working with her. She really had a way of getting under his skin, but she also had a knack for seeing right through all of his pretenses and defenses. He knew he could comfortably let down his guard around her. Something he hadn't been able to do with anyone else, except maybe Billy. But even with him, there was a certain distance involved.

With Amanda, it went far beyond their status as best friends. He knew it, and he felt certain she did too. But, she wasn't backing down, and neither was he. Something told him to keep moving forward. For once in his life, he was going to listen to his heart and not his head. They had a really great thing going. He wasn't about to blow it.

Their relationship was approaching a point he had never reached with anyone else in his life. That both scared and excited him. The time had come for him to make a move, but he'd wait just a few more days to allow himself the time to gather his thoughts before he said anything to her. Then, he'd declare his intentions.
