"Uhh ... Amanda, you having a birthday or something I don't know about?" Lee placed his right hand in his pants pocket and took a step toward her desk, where she was seated. "No." Amanda primly folded her hands and placed them on the desk in front of her. "Oh, well then, what is that?" Lee pointed to what was sitting on her desk in front of her. "It's a cake." "It's a cake," he repeated. "It's a cake," she affirmed again, her voice calm. "I can see it's a cake." He gestured with his left hand towards the cake, appearing uncertain and nervous. "Uhh ... what's it for?" "Ohhh, it's a ... it's a sample ... wedding cake." Amanda slowly stood as she picked up the cake in both of her hands and turned to face him with an eager smile. "Would you like a taste?" Lee's gaze met hers. His own expression showed he knew where she was heading. "Uh, nooo, I think I can wait two weeks." She smiled. "You sure?" He smiled. "Yeah, I'm sure." "Yeah, okay," she said with a laugh. Lee laughed, sounding nervous, and turned away from her. She couldn't keep the wide grin from her face as she waited for the next line she knew was coming. "You wouldn't dare!" he challenged. "Nooo," Amanda replied in a low voice. Lee turned back around to face her just as she turned her hands and raised the cake, effectively smothering his face with the creamy icing and smashing the cake to give him a full taste. Lee sputtered, then quickly recovered, reaching out to grab her wrist as he scooped a handful of cake and shoved it into her face. The cake plate fell to the floor as they both wiped the cake from their own faces and attempted to smear it onto each other's. A playful struggle ensued. Lee attempted to hold Amanda's right hand which held her bit of cake and Amanda tried to dodge Lee's assault. When she stepped backward, she ran into the side of her desk. She looked at Lee in alarm and knew he had the advantage, not only in position but also in strength. He knew it too. One last effort to reach her face was successful. He twisted his hand left and right and effectively smeared the icing across her mouth, cheeks and chin, as well as her nose. Amanda sputtered once more as Lee released her hand. She reached her left hand up to wipe a little from her face. Then, just as he relaxed she took the remaining bit from her right hand and shoved it into his face, laughing at his surprised look. He immediately wiped the cake from his face and shook it off his hands, as the pieces joined the fallen cake on the floor. Amanda did the same. "Why you...." His eyes took on a threatening, but playful gleam. She already knew she had nowhere to go. So did he. Straddling the cake at their feet, he closed the gap between them and pinned her against the desk, reaching up to wipe a little cake from her face with his forefinger and putting it into his mouth. He smacked his lips and smiled. "Hmm, not bad." Amanda reached out and did the same with a little bit of cake from his face. "No, you're right. Pretty tasty!" Lee watched her lick the icing from her finger. His eyes took on a darker hue as they watched her mouth. Amanda froze, her finger pausing just outside of her mouth as she stared at him. He placed both of his hands on either side of her face, then leaned forward to capture her lips with his own. The taste of his lips blended with the sugary-sweetness of the icing. She lightly touched the side of his face with her icing-covered fingers as she returned his kiss, then raised her left hand to his head as she trailed her fingers through his hair. She immediately broke off from the kiss and gasped slightly. "Oh, Lee, I'm so sorry!" Lee stared at her dumbfounded, obviously trying to recover his breath from the kiss. "Sorry?" He blinked several times. "For what?" Amanda reached for a tissue on her desk and wiped her left hand, then attempted to get the icing out of Lee's hair. "I got icing all in your hair on the side, here." Lee turned his head as if he could see where she was working, then grinned. "Oh well, it washes, Amanda. No big deal." "Oh, but, Lee..." she protested, trying unsuccessfully to get the icing out. He grabbed a hold of her wrists to stop her attempts, then fixed her with a pointed stare. "Amanda, it washes," he repeated. "Besides, I think we both need to get this stuff off our faces. There's a little in your hair too." He reached up and pulled a piece of cake from the hair on the side of her face, then smiled. "You know," he began and lowered his voice, "if this is what our wedding will be like, I can't wait!" Amanda laughed and gave him a quick kiss. "You're just going to have to, Stetson." She turned and stepped over the cake on the floor and preceded Lee as they headed for the door. Just before she reached it, he grabbed her hand and turned her around to face him. "How about another sample of that cake?" he inquired in a suggestive voice. The suggestive tone in his voice sent a shiver straight down her spine. The grin he gave her when he noticed was enough to make her knees buckle. It was a good thing he had a hold of her waist, or she may have collapsed. Slowly, his head dipped to hers, only he didn't kiss her lips this time. Instead, his lips touched her cheek as he kissed a spot where the icing was. His mouth moved across her chin to her other cheek, then found her lips, engaging her in a breathtaking kiss. When he pulled away, she gazed at him and gave him an impish grin, then reached her hand up to touch her neck just below her jawbone. "You missed a spot," she teased, then watched the intensity of his gaze increase. Her breath quickened when he dipped his head once more. She felt her pulse race as his lips made contact with her neck. "Mmm," she sighed. "You have a little icing here," he whispered and kissed her neck a little closer to her ear, "and here," he said as his mouth continued to move backward, "and here," he finished, his breath warm on her ear as kissed a sensitive spot behind it. He pulled back and gazed into her eyes. She saw the emotions she was feeling mirrored in his hazel depths. Deciding to return the favor he had just bestowed on her, she leaned forward to kiss his chin. "And you have a little icing here," she whispered, repeating his actions and words, "and here," she added, her lips moving to kiss the corner of his mouth, "and here," she breathed, making contact with his lips and initiating a passionate kiss. His arms tightened around her as he responded, and she got lost in the embrace. A small moan escaped her lips, and the pressure of Lee's mouth on hers increased in response. The taste of the icing and cake mingled with his kiss was exhilarating. It wasn't the first time they had fed each other, and she found her thoughts dwelling on their upcoming wedding. Anticipation flooded through her at the thought of their actual wedding cake and all that would happen afterward. Being husband and wife was something she never dreamed would happen when she had begun to fall in love with him. With his reciprocation, it was something she knew would become a reality in just two short weeks. Finally, Lee broke the kiss. His his chest rose and fell in time with hers. "Umm ... Amanda," he rasped. "I think we should ... uh..." "Yeah." She nodded. "We should go and..." "Yeah." She smiled at their unspoken communication, both of them in sync with each other's thoughts. Turning and stepping out of the warmth and security of his arms, she tentatively tested her legs to be certain they would support her, then took several steps towards the door. He followed behind. When she reached it, she turned around. "The cake..." "Can wait until we get back," Lee finished for her, then nodded toward the door. She used her one clean hand to reach for the doorknob. As she did, it was opened from the other side. A very surprised Francine stood in the doorway staring at them. "Looks like you two were having quite a party up here!" "Yeah, uh, well...." Lee stammered. "Yeah, you see ... when we were chasing..." Amanda began but was interrupted by Francine. "You know what, I don't even want to know. I just came up here to return your ISP, Lee." She extended her hand which held the ID. "On second thought, I ... think I'll just put it on your desk. You don't exactly look like you can take anything at the moment." Stepping aside, Lee and Amanda allowed Francine to walk into the Q-Bureau and over to Lee's desk to place the ISP on its surface. When she turned around, Amanda watched her gaze catch the completely destroyed cake on the floor. Francine looked back at them. Clearing her throat, she resolutely marched back toward the door and left without giving them a backward glance. Amanda heard her mumble, "He never fed me cake!" Lee turned to face her at Francine's words and smiled. Amanda knew he had heard Francine too. They shared a special look, then he winked. Oh, how she hoped the next two weeks would pass quickly!
